How to install the Malone SteelTop Square Crossbars Roof Rack on a 2017 Toyota 4Runner accessories

Speaker 1: Today we will test on our Toyota Forerunner 2017 the Malone steel roof rack, part number MPG201. This may also apply to part number MPG202 during installation. The steel roof rack system from Malone is ideal for transporting a multitude of accessories on your roof while at the same time creating space in the vehicle. This can carry bike racks, luggage baskets and hardtop cargo boxes. They have lockable end caps so they are attached to your roof rack system after installation and are very easy to install. You only have this bolt in the middle here, holding the clamp on the side rails of your factory, and then you can get started.

Both bars can carry 165 pounds, but you'll always want to check with your vehicle manual to make sure your roof can withstand those weights. These are square beams that make a little noise while driving. You can buy a stock that you can find online to reduce and pull the wind noise, or you can upgrade to the Malone Airflow 2 Roof Rack System, which is an aerodrome rack system, and that's part number MPG215. Next I want you here give a quick measurement. It will be about 2 1/2 inches from the middle of the roof to the top of the bar. From the middle of the roof to the end of the bar, this will be about 1 1/2 inches tall. Now that we have gone through some of the features of the roof rack system, let's go ahead and show you how it installs.

We have already installed our front bar on the vehicle and we have our rear bar in front of us. Now you will find that everything is preinstalled, so you will have fewer problems with many other roof rack systems. Before us, we have an adapter for the actual braces, your factory side rails should be a bit thinner than most. We have our final end caps, our keys and our tightening tool to tighten the clamps around our factory-elevated side rails. Before we put these on our raised side rails, we go here to this screw and loosen it a bit, so we can open our brackets and just put them on.

We will do that on the other side as well. Next, we can put our cross braces in place, and as far as you can set it up, it's not a special place because we'll be measuring from the middle of the bar to the middle of the bar. The bar for our cross braces is spread on both sides to make sure they are straight. As far as crossbar spread is concerned, you want to make sure it's at least 24 inches apart. What I would suggest, however, is whatever accessories you use to set up your roof rack system and follow its recommendations. Once the measurement is even on both sides, we measure our crossbar overhang and make sure that is the case. Next, we can tighten the brackets with our supplied tool, and then it takes only a little time.

Now determine if your factory side rail is thick enough so you do not need the adapter. We will not need it in this case, so we will continue to reduce it. And our last step is to take our final end caps, put them in place, and now we're ready to load our gear and take to the streets. And there you have it for the Malone steel roof rack on our Toyota 2017 predecessor.

How to install the Yakima Roof Rack on a 2017 Toyota 4Runner

Speaker 1: Today we will test the Yakima JetStream roof rack system in our Toyota Forerunner 2017. Consisting of part number Y00425, these are the JetStream Cross Bars, 50 inches long in black and will also use part number Y00147 and these are the Timberline Towers for the Yakima Cross Bars, especially for the raised side rails. The Yakima The JetStream roof rack system is ideal for transporting a variety of accessories on your roof while providing space in the vehicle. This item carries bike racks, luggage baskets, and kayak carriers. The bar itself has an aerodynamic shape and that is connected to the rubber strip at the top, as well as the ground that cuts off the wind noise and pull you while you drive. Another benefit of removing the end cap is that you can use T-Track accessories with it. What makes this model different from other T-Track accessories? Normally you would have to remove the strip, cut it to length, attach the accessories and put the strip back around the strip. It's a bit different with that. You can slide this top down and slide your T-Track accessory in without having to cut the strip first. The end caps are lockable by removing this plastic piece here.

You can replace it with the same Yakima key system that you can find on etrailer.com. This can be secured not only on the raised side members of your factory, but also on the accessories you are transporting. So you can take a few measurements here, from the top in the middle of the roof to the top of our bar, which will be about 4 1/4 inches high. From the middle to the bottom, this will be about 3 3/4 inches high. So you have plenty of room for your accessories, so you have no problems with the distance between the brackets and the top of your roof. Also, both bars have a combined carrying capacity of 165 pounds, but you always want to check if your roof can withstand these weights. Now that we've got to know some of the features of the JetStream Cross Bar roof rack system, you can show us how it's installed. We have already mounted our front bumper on our vehicle and have our rear bumper here partially mounted on our table. Before us we have the tower, the end caps for the tower, the included clamping tool and the kit to install it on our JetStream bar. Our first step is to mount the tower here.

We will take our plastic piece and that expresses itself exactly like that. And we take our middle bracket here, put it on top, we'll turn it over. You can see the hole for the screw here, take our supplied tool and pull it tight until you hear audible clicks. That way, you know you're not putting it on too much. Now we can install this on our bar. So we take this end and put it on our track.

Now there's usually a streak here, we removed it, and once you put it in place, you would cut it to length and put it back in place. But for demonstration purposes we will just leave it as it is. Finally, we can install our end cap for our bar and now we can attach these raised side rails to our vehicles. No special place. Next we will spread from middle to middle for our slashes. I just want to make sure that you do not go under 24 inches, or you can go through whatever accessory you pull, and go for its recommendations. Now we measure for our overhang and make sure it's even on both sides as well, which is from this point on. Okay, that looks good.

Now we wrap our strap down here. Press it in place. Then we'll tighten the screw on the inside with our tightening tool, again making sure we hear those audible clicks, so we know we're not putting too tight. We'll do this on the driver's side as well, then we tighten that screw again to hear those clicks on both sides. Then we can finally put in our endcap and recharge our gear. And there you have it for the Yakima JetStream roof rack system on our Toyota Toyota Forerunner 2017.
